Concussion Protocol

Season Start

  1. At the beginning of each season, every athlete and their parent/guardian will read and sign the AAHA Concussion Protocol Parent/Guardian/Athlete Acknowledgement Form
  2. Each head coach and assistant coach will read and sign the Coach's Acknowledgement Form
  3. The signed forms will be gathered and kept by each team manager
  4. Every athlete will be sent an email invite to take an at-home baseline concussion test through ImPACT Applications, Inc. This must be completed prior to the first official team practice.

Concussion Protocol During the Season

The health and safety of every player is our priority. USA Hockey has instituted the practice of "when in doubt, sit them out," and at Bucks Elite Hockey, we adhere to that policy. In order to ensure the safety of our players, the following steps are in place for our players and families.

  1. If a player is suspected of a potential concussion during a practice or game and is exhibiting concussion symptoms based on USA Hockey's Concussion Signs and Symptoms, remove the player from activity immediately.
  2. The team manager or designated volunteer must administer an ImPACT Application Quick Test on the team iPad, then escort the player to their parent/guardian.
  3. The player's parent/guardian must have their player evaluated by a medical professional, and the player's ImPACT Passport ID should be provided to the doctor so they can evaluate the results.
  4. Complete the following documentation:
  5. The coach/assistant coach/team manager must fill out an Incident Report Form within 24 hours and send to the Bucks Elite Hockey Program Administrator.
  6. The team manager must email the AAHA Concussion Evaluation & Return to Play Form to the player's parent/guardian.
  7. The player's parent/guardian must email the completed AAHA Return to Play Form to the Bucks Elite Hockey Program Administrator before the player can return to the ice.

ADHL Hockey uses ImPACT Concussion Testing for both its baseline testing and post-injury testing during games and practices.
