Q. Who do the Bucks play against?

A. The Bucks teams compete in the AZYHL against other Travel Teams that play in the AZYHL (i.e. Jr. Sun Devils, Jr. Coyotes, Bobcats, AHU Knights, AZ Titans, Flagstaff, Tucson, Mission, New Mexico, El Paso, Las Vegas, etc.).

Q. Are the Bucks a Travel Level Hockey Team?

A. The Bucks program is a Travel Level program where teams may travel within driving distance for out of state for tournaments and invitationals.

Q. What kind of tournaments do the Bucks typically participate in?

A. The Bucks teams typically play in 5-6 tournaments per year including tournament in the Phoenix Valley as well as out of state tournaments.

Q. Are the Bucks teams allowed to travel out of state if they want to?

A. Yes, the Bucks teams do travel out of state for tournaments or weekend games that do not conflict with the regularly scheduled AZYHL league games and our local tournament schedules. The tournament fees are included in the cost of season, however player travel costs are not included.

Q. What does a typical practice schedule look like for the Bucks?

A. Season schedules vary from year to year but the Bucks teams typically have 3-4 ice touches per week with a mix of shared and full ice. Coaches also organize additional dryland training outside of ice time.

Q. How long is the season?

A. Per the AZYHL rules, tryouts for the season typically start in May, with players committing to the team by early June. Practices for the season typically kick off by early August, and the season officially ends once state playoffs end for your team's division, usually by the end of March. The AZYHL Seeding Tournament takes place Labor Day Weekend each year.

Q. When do the Bucks teams start skating for the season?

A. Although tryouts are typically held in May, the Bucks teams do not start skating as a full team until sometime in August. However, we offer summer ice sessions and camps for players to sign up for.
